In the Holy Eucharist, we are nourished spiritually. We enter into a profound personal union with the Lord Himself, who said: “Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him” (John 6:56).
During the spring semester, we prepare our second-grade students and other children who have not received the sacrament to receive their First Holy Communion. Receiving the Eucharist, we hope, will become a life-long experience as food for the journey.
Children are blessed to be able to receive two sacraments during their second grade year: Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist. And though passing on the faith may seem like a daunting responsibility, our parish accompanies parents by offering two preparation classes to help them form their child(ren) with confidence.
In addition to Scriptural passages from both the Old Testament and the New, parents are made aware of ways to explain the "Real Presence" of Jesus in the Eucharist. They also receive suggestions on practical preparations throughout the months that lead up to the reception of the sacrament.
